The Property:
The mansion, named Eden Brae, was built in 1910, and is situated on Cliff Road, in between Highland Park and Forest Park, two of the most walkable neighborhoods in the city of Birmingham.
The property’s elegant iron gates provide a secure space for you to enjoy the home. Clean, lighted pathways, and a grand front porch greet you when you arrive and invite you to explore the property. The home's lions and other architectural features create a warm and fun place to stay.
Stroll around the grounds of the property, and you will find lots of areas to relax and entertain. The screened in porch behind the house provides a wonderful place to relax. The space contains a community dining table for 12 and an oversized comfy bench.
If you want to cook out during your stay, we've got you covered! Guests are welcome to use the outdoor kitchen, which sports a new grill, a large ice chest, and an oversized working bar. The Kenmore Elite five burner natural grill has both a searing element and an extra side burner for heating sauces and sides. Or, take a nap or cuddle up under the cedar trees in one of our over-sized, Brazilian double hammocks.
Guest Access:
Guests booking the whole house will have access to all five apartments and the house's outdoor amenities, which include a screened outdoor dining room, a natural gas grill and bar area, hammocks, fountains, and gardens.
The Neighborhood:
Eden Brae is on Cliff Road, between the popular neighborhoods of Forest Park and Highland Park. While you are with us, be sure to venture out into the neighborhood. Just a few blocks away, you will find parks, restaurants, coffee, golf, and tennis!
Highland Park Golf and Tennis Club is just a block away. Open to the public, it is very easy to play a round of golf or a game of tennis during your stay. With amazing course conditions and incredible views of the city skyline, the Highland Park golf course is beloved by locals and visitors alike. Play 9- or 18- holes or enjoy the driving range. Tee times are easy to book online, in person, or by phone. If tennis is your sport, you are in luck. The Highland Park Racquet Club is next door and easy to access. Clay courts and hard courts are available for single or doubles play.
If you are in the mood for something more relaxed, the church around the corner has a beautiful public stone meditation path. Rushton Park, one of the three parks lining Highland Avenue, is just a couple of blocks away. A favorite among locals, it's a wonderful place to enjoy a pretty day. If you are traveling with kids, you will love Rushton Park's gated playground. Or, if you are in for something more active, try the park's basketball or volleyball court. Just outside the park, you will find a few popular local eateries. In the mood for a coffee or pastries, try O'Henry's. Or, stroll next door to Rojo, a popular Mexican restaurant with indoor and outdoor dining. It's dog friendly and regularly features live music and entertainment.
On the other side of Highland Park Golf Course, you will find Forest Park, which is home to a couple of cute restaurants and shops. Walk a few blocks further to enjoy the beautiful park, brewery, restaurants, bars, coffee shops, and stores in Avondale.
Want to explore further? Rent a Zyp Bike from Rushton Park. Zyp Bikes are Birmingham's public bike share. Stations are placed throughout the city, and you can rent and return wherever you would like. Renting a Zyp Bike is incredibly easy. Just swipe a card and choose how long you would like to ride. Passes to use bikes are available by the hour, day, or week.
Getting Around:
Eden Brae is just a couple of miles from most of Birmingham's most popular attractions: Railroad Park, the Zoo and Botanical Gardens, Avondale, Sloss Furnace, the Art Museum, Regions Field, Vulcan Park, and Downtown's Entertainment and Civil Rights Districts. All are easily accessibly by bike or by car/Lyft/Uber.

Guest Count:
We are happy to host larger groups, but we do charge a supplementary guest fee ($20/guest/night) for additional guests to cover additional wear and tear, utilities, linens, and cleaning. When you book, please make sure that your guest count is accurate so that you get an accurate rate. If you bring more guests than you report to us, you will forfeit your deposit.
Events:
No parties or events are allowed on the premises.
Pet Policy:
As dog lovers, we know it can be hard to leave your four-legged friends at home, so we are happy to host guests with dogs. We allow dogs only in apartments 3, 4, and 5. No pets are allowed in apartments 1 and 2. We have added amenities – including beds – to make your stay more comfortable for both you and your pups.
If you are traveling with a dog, please let us know when you book or inquire. There is a non-refundable pet fee of $20/night per dog to cover additional wear and tear and cleaning. We charge this separately after your booking is confirmed through Airbnb. If your plans change, you can easily add or remove pets from your reservation. We appreciate your cooperation with this policy, as it benefits us a great deal to know in advance if you are staying with pets so that we can plan for additional cleaning. If you bring a pet without notifying us, you will forfeit your deposit.
Because incidents do happen and we would like to create a safe and enjoyable environment for all our guests, we have a few rules we ask guests with pets to follow:
1. Only well behaved, well traveled, house trained dogs are allowed. No other animals are allowed.
2. Keep your dogs on leash when they are outside. Do not let them roam free, keep an eye on them at all times, and please clean up after them – no one likes to step in poo.
3. No pets on the furniture. Please use a dog bed, blanket, or crate.
4. Do not leave your dogs unattended in the rental for more than an hour or two at a time. Lonely dogs in new spaces can quickly become destructive and disruptive.
5. No aggressive or loud dogs are permitted. If your pup struggles with these issues, please keep him at home. Disruptive, barking, and/or aggressive dogs will be asked to leave, and their owners will forfeit any remaining nights on their reservation without a refund.
Finally, by bringing a pet on the property, you agree to assume full responsibility for your pet. If your pet causes any injury or harm to other guests or to the property, you will be 100% liable for any necessary treatment, care, or repair.
Interaction with Guests:
While you may see a member of our cleaning or groundskeeping team on site during your stay, the best way to reach us is through messenger or text. We are available to answer any questions or help make your stay more comfortable.
